Kingfell was responsible for writing PD4 for the published set of British Standards in the BS 7974 series covering fire safety engineering. PD4 is a central standard covering the detection of fire and the activation of fire protection systems and may be used as a fire safety engineering alternative to British Standard BS 5839 Part 1.
