FAQ

Q: What is Fire Engineering?
A: Fire Engineering is the application of scientific and engineering principles, standards and Codes, and expert judgement, based on an understanding of the phenomena and effects of fire and of the reaction and behaviour of people to fire. Fire Engineering aims to assist with the protection of people, property and the environment from the destructive effects of fire.
Q: What is  Fire Strategy?
A: A fire strategy is a dynamic document that details the fire safety aims and objectives for an organization and/or a building. It will detail the methodology applied to a building design to demonstrate compliance with fire safety legislation.
Q: How often do I need to carry out a fire risk assessment?
A: The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires that a fire risk assessment is carried out within most workplaces. Once an initial assessment has been carried out and any significant findings identified have been addressed through an agreed action plan the frequency of the risk assessment process would be determined by any changes within the building that would require on-going assessment. It is advisable if no material changes have occurred to assess the premises at least annually.
